CALL OUT FOR PUPPETEERS/MOVERS/DANCERS for ‘COLOURS, COLOURS EVERYWHERE’

We are looking for London based puppeteers with excellent movement skills, and dancers/physical theatre performers with excellent puppetry skills for ‘Colours, Colours Everywhere’, a co-production with Polka Theatre and Little Angel Theatre in 2027. Applicants should be excellent devisers who are happy working collaboratively. Skills in British Sign Language are also highly desirable.

‘Colours, Colours Everywhere’ is a brand new adaptation of the book by award winning author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Sharon King-Chai. It features a girl and her bright blue tree frog friend as they paint a journey through vibrant worlds, sailing the skies in a bright red hot air balloon, in a visual feast packed with playful puppetry and integrated BSL.

2027 dates

• Bristol rehearsals: 11-15, 18-22 January 

• London rehearsals: 25-29 January (Polka Theatre)

• Tech and dress rehearsals: 2-5 February (Polka Theatre)

• Performances at Polka Theatre, Wimbledon: 6 February - 13 March. Please see the full performance schedule here.

• Paid holiday: 14 - 28 March 

• Mini tour to Newbury and Gloucester: 29 March-4 April 

Applicants must be available for ALL of the dates. There is also the possibility of coming back for a second contract from late August -November 2027, when the show will play at Little Angel Theatre

Who we’re looking for:

We want to meet fabulous dancers and physical theatre artists with brilliant puppetry skills, or puppeteers who have a strong movement/dance background. We welcome applications from people of any age, gender or ethnicity.

As this show will be integrated with BSL, applicants need to have BSL skills or be happy to acquire these during the process. Please note: the main role in this show will be played by a Deaf performer and this has already been cast.

You must have excellent devising and improvisation skills and an interest or curiosity in making and performing work for young audiences. 

Above all, we want to work with collaborative team players who are hard working and friendly people.

You must be London based, or willing to relocate to London, for this contract. All performers must have the right to work in the UK.

Fees

• We pay ITC minimum rates, plus holiday pay. 

• Travel and accommodation will be paid for when rehearsing or performing outside of London.

Timeline

• Deadline for applications: 26th October, 9am.

• Online interviews: 27th - 30th October (we will schedule these in line with everyone’s availability).

• There may be a further in person casting session following this.
